From Drawings to Completion

Sometimes you have a project that requires a special piece of furniture. Whether it’s a specialty size, a particular finish or color that can’t be found in store, or just a desire for a truly one-of-kind piece, Dashney Interiors can work with you to have your unique piece created. Here is an outline of how our process works - based on a custom ottoman we created for a current client.

• Meet and discuss the needs and wants of the client. What need will this piece satisfy? Is there a reason that this piece is hard to source? Is it a unique size/style or request? How can we create a piece that will truly “wow”.

• Keeping the overall design scheme of the home and room in mind, we will create drawings outlining our vision. We’ll then take these drawings and create renders, so that you can see exactly what the piece will look like in 3D. We’ll review these with you to ensure we are all on the same page and revisit the design if needed.

  In the drawing phase, all the dimensions will be carefully considered and marked, as well as what type of material is needed, for example here, a powder coated metal base.

• After the design is set - it is time to source materials for the piece and contact the fabricators. We’ll visit our favourite, trusted suppliers for the perfect finishes and order samples. For this particular project we selected a leather from Vanville Leather, then had our upholsterer use this to create the upper portion of the ottoman. A separate metal fabricator, Modern Metals, created the legs - which we also custom selected the finish for.

Once the piece is complete and quality tested, we will have it delivered to the client to complete their room!
